Where People Come Together

A browser is a program that enables you to view the Web on the Internet. If you need to view a web page like the one you're at now then you are using a browser (which is not to be confused with the "search engine" you’re usingwith your browser such as YahooAsk JeevesBing or Google's search engine. These companies also have many other services and products as well as browsers. You can use any search engine you like with any browser... You may not even know which browser you're using! It will probably be "Internet Explorer , " which is that little blue "e" icon on your desk top and/or in the quick launch bar. This particular browser is the most common browser used because many people think there are no other s ! But there is -- and much better ones!

Test drive each browser and observe it's performance, features and styles and compare them to others.

No matter how good your browser is there are other that will have some better features.features are updated so frequently that my advice is to take each one for a spin to see how it handles and compare it with the others.

Whats good for the Goose may not be good for the gander!

Let’s say John and Jane test drive every available browser. John may decide that Firefox is the best browser while Jane is sure that Internet Explorer is the best. Who’s correct? Answer: They're both correct! The reason they're both correct is that the best browser is the one that meets your individual needs and is best for you and your PC. It's all about individual preference!

Having a variety installed on your PC makes using the Internet easier.

You’ll find that tools and other gimmicks are added to browsers all the time. Never un-install browser's you don't use as it's best to keep it for a rainy day when you have problems with the browsers you currently use. If you decide to switch to other browsers, I recommend that you do not un-install Internet Explorer from your PC because it is an integral part of your computer.

How To Make a Browser Faster!

Disable programs that are running but not needed. Use Perfect Un-installer to remove unwanted applications that you, or Windows, cannot remove. Reduce your browser plug-ins, Spy-ware and Ad-ware. Disable images within the browser settings, especially if you are only using it for script-based searches. Turn off flash, Java, images, sound etc. Close tool bars when not in use.

Further down the page (below the poll) has two great programs "Registry Cleaner Tool" and "Registry Gear"   which are the safest and easiest way to improve your PC's performance.

Clear your Internet cache files regularly, or instead of turning off individual features from your favorite browser, try selecting another browser (See full browser list bottom of page) and turn off all the features you don't use. This is great for script based searches. This will enable faster page loading, giving you more time to research. You can simply switch to your existing browser when you need to view certain things online. The browser I use depends of what I’m doing. Just changing the browser can result in better performance.

What Is The Best Browser For a Mac: Camino, Firefox, Flock, OmniWeb and Opera all perform well on Mac Machines, but overall the best browser for Mac users is Safari. This is because of its seamless integration with iCal (Calendar) and address book. It offers the handy feature of date and address recognition so that information sent to you by email can be used to generate events directly into your calendar. The Web history is elegantly shown, using the cover flow style (such as itunes on the iphone.) This is particularly useful when you can’t remember its URL, but do remember what a Web page looks like. It’s all about user preference. Try them all to see which one you prefer. They’re all free! See links below..

Firefox

Firefox 3.6 has a tabbed interface , pop-up blocker/built-in multiple search tools and built-in RSS reader, it handles nicely and it’s always stable. The spellcheck for text boxes uses the familiar dotted colored lines under words although the others also have this feature. If you need an extension for something, the Firefox extension capabilities are powerful and easy to use. It also offers many themes. I have been using Firefox since day one and compared to the others, it is in a class by itself although Opera does come extremely close.

Firefox, as well as all other browsers, can be downloaded, installed and run in conjunction with any existing browsers you have. Note: Firefox does not currently support ActiveX.

Supports all Windows 98 to XP & Vista: Mac OS X and several varieties of Linux and Red Hat Linux 8.0.

Internet Explorer 9

Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 9 is a major improvement to IE8 and about time too!. For such a popular browser, it's losing it's popularity every day, but is still one of the most used browsers. It has a new navigation bar and a better design. It has tabbed browsing. Its addition of the zoom function at the bottom of each page is very useful. Although the “find next” tool is still weak, it has an impressive range of plug-ins. IE9 has great improvements in security and new features compared to IE 8.

Supports: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) - vista compatible.

Opera 11.00

Opera is a highly respected Web browser from Norway that offers many unique features , including a great magnification tool, thousands of cool widgets, text to speech and third party extensions. You can do everything from home PC to mobile, Surf the full Web on your smart phone or PDA. It's very cool. The progress bar on the address bar lets you see pages loaded from the site. Overall, it's a very good looking browser, performs very well, and is a must have to your arsenal of browsers.

Safari

Safariis a webkit based browser native on Apple products. It also has a PC version. I like using it's history function where you cover-flow through the images of the pages you have visited. Great when you can't remember the name of a page, but know what it looks like. Safari excels on Apple computers because it links very well with the mac's other applications which makes it an easy natural choice on a mac and worth a try on a PC

Supports: Mac and PCs.

Google Chrome
